GFW Day 3
Not going to lie, we’re just a little bit tired now, today has been massive and my feet are getting that way too – three twelve hour days in heels, HARDCORE. Sleep deprivation aside, it’s been uh-mazing, I actually don’t want to go home! Here’s what went on... 7am Early BirdI was in my favourite coffee spot Nude Espresso by 7am, a full three hours before the show starts, to prep for the day. Why? Because I was on the official GFW schedule to present ‘From Designer to Business Leader’ a conversation with joint CEO of boohoo and total girl boss, Carol Kane. So, it was cue cards over eggs for me. Slightly nervous but we won’t focus on that. 11am MORE COFFEE PLEASEAfter a slow start, the crowds started flocking to the stand with 100s of fashion newbies keen to sign up for an internship at boohoo. Having flicked through some banging portfolios and chatted personal branding and styling with some enviably well-dressed girls, I was all about the coffee run – that’s 12 skinny cappuccinos please.2pm Testing, TestingSo it was my time to shine, or not…. All I could do was hope the prep had paid off and the mic that had been strapped to my body harness didn’t fail. It turns out I had no reason to worry, nobody was listening to me, Carol was so inspiring, I could have sang Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and I doubt it would have been noticed. Carol’s top tip for Graduates? Be cheeky and take risks. Yep, we’ll go with that. 5pm Draw me Like One of Your French Girls Jack Yeah this was kind of a highlight; we were joined by illustrator Jack Doheny who uses an iPad (I don’t even know how) to create fashion portraits that are totally on fleek. His signature is a power pose accompanied by a sweeping lash and a whole lotta sass. He drew me during a live interview, yep he multitasks too, head over to the boohoo Facebook page to watch now. 8pm Show TimeTime for some fun, we braved the downpours and headed over the road for Man Met’s private show to catch up with friend of boohoo, stylist Liz Cardwell and check out the talent from our home town. Dry ice and white wine are a dangerous mix so I think we’ll just leave it there….

Sweet Potato: Loaded
Right now, we're totally preachin' sweet potato. It's up there with avocado and all the other must have foods of 2016, which with a great filter are always gonna be pretty insta-worthy. Because you can't show off your #foodgoals without a great snap right?Sweet potato mash, done. Sweet potato fries, OVERLY done. Really there's only one thing left for it.If you're looking for a new round the clock recipe minus all the cals (ok some of the cals), this 15 minute wonder is for you....Or even better, get your best pal to cook up a storm instead!Score: 5's all round Ingredients:2 Medium Sweet Potatoes1 Tablespoon Olive OilSplash of Milk3 Bacon Rashers (cooked until crispy and cut up)Grated Cheese (to melt on top)Salt, Pepper, Paprika (for seasoning)Sour cream/Mayonnaise (for serving)Method:- To get things started, I usually usually pierce the several times and put them in the microwave for 5 mins to soften before baking.- Pop in the oven on a baking sheet lined with grease-proof paper until the pots are cooked all the way through. - Beware, they'll be too hot to handle fresh from the oven, so leave to cool before cutting each potato in half (length ways)- Scoop out the sweet potato flesh into a bowl, leaving a thin layer in the skins. Place potato skins (facing up) back on the baking sheet and drizzle with oil. Bake for approx 10 minutes until skins are crispy around the edges.- Mash the sweet potato flesh with a splash of milk and season with salt, pepper and paprika. Mix in the chopped bacon, if you want it, the recipe is still tasy without. Spoon the mixture into each potato skin in equal amounts, and top with grated cheese. Bake or grill until cheese is melted. Voila!
Paris Pop Up Party Lowdown
From LA to Paris, we're taking over! On Wednesday night we launched our first ever Paris pop-up store. We teamed up with DJ mega babe Aurielle Sayeh and our friends at Campari liquor to help kick off our opening party in true boohoo style. It was an amazing night and the store was brought to life by all our gorgeous guests and some of the coolest VIP's in Paris! Our babein stylist, Grace, shared with us what the day was like for her. Describe your job role in a sentenceA typical day for me is dressing gorgeous ladies & making them even more gorgeous! This week I’ve been dressing #theboohoostore with fab fashion, showcasing our hottest summer trends! Describe the day leading up to the partyIt was all hands on deck from 9am all the way to 7pm preparing for the opening party. Most of the day was spent selecting and preparing trend packages and choosing which key pieces to present to our French customers. I also dressed the mannequins and windows displays to make the shop look truly amazing. Were there any famous faces/ special guests at the party?Yes! We spied the sassy Kenza of La Revue de Kenza, along with our AW15 blogger Margot of YouMakeFashion. It was really great to see the girls as we’ve worked with them on French campaigns in the past. There were lots of press there too with Leslie Benarroch the fashion editor for Public magazine making an appearance. What is your favorite boohoo collection in store today and why?It has to be the festival collection! It’s got a great mix of style and colours and really gets you ready for summer. There are lots of key pieces you can mix in with your current wardrobe and wear now. I’m counting down for festival season! What are your top 3 party survival tips?1. If you don’t recognise someone who starts speaking to you, just smile and go along with it!2. Don’t pre-drink, take it steady.3. Have your compact mirror and lippy on hand at ALL times. Our store schedule is jam packed over the next week, follow @boohooFRANCE to stay up to date!
