Jamz Supernova

Pushing new talent across an eclectic spectrum of trap, bass, alternative house and RnB, 1Extra’s Jamz Supernova is one of the freshest DJs on the block with her own club night to boot. We caught up with Jamz to edit the best up & coming artists of the moment, get to know the tracks she can’t get enough of and which boohoo fave she’d love to work with.

The track that...

You’re listening to right now... The Internet's album ‘Ego Death’ – it’s a musical treat!
Is stuck in your head... Tom Misch ‘Sunshine’ always gets stuck, but it’s a great record so I’m not mad.
You sing along in the shower to... Lauryn Hill’s ‘X Factor’ – singing in the shower is a secret past time of mine and you really got to feel it! This track does that... I promise.
Gets you ready for a night out... I’d definitely go for Tazer & Tink ‘Wet Dollars’ – it’s one for the shufflers.
You chill out to... Lianne La Havas’ ‘Tokyo’ – the whole album is bliss and it’s nice to wind down to in an Uber after a night out.
Reminds you of your best mate... Destiny’s Child ‘So Good’ reminds me of driving from LA to Palm Springs, signing at the top of my voice to give my friend energy while she was driving!
You would love to remix... Lion Babe ‘Impossible’. It’s such a sick record and it can be twisted in so many ways. I’d love to get my hands on the parts.

Wanna know where to party?

Check out Jamz’s club night EDIT LDN for the latest in future RnB. It lands monthly at Tipsy in Dalston.

On her bucket list? “Definitely Le Social in Paris, I’m dying to go there!”

Vicky Grout

This is a bit of a different one... She's a photographer known for her shots of Grime MCs! I like her raw, candid approach.

She's a great singer songwriter from the UK making electronic R&B. She's had two solid EPs under her belt and I think she could be huge.

Mura Masa

This guy has worked with NAO! He's a multi-instrumentalist and a dope producer! Everyone wants to work with him!

If you love the weekend you'll love this girl! She makes fresh RnB, can dance and looks FIERCE.

Nick Brewer ft. Bibi Bourelly – ‘Talk To Me’

Redefining the Essex boy persona, rapper Nick Brewer (24) was brought up on soul music, falling in love with hip hop after buying Puff Daddy and Faith Evans’ ‘Missing You’ at just 9 years old (yeah, that makes him a lot cooler than us already).

DJ’ing and rapping throughout his teenage years to a soundtrack of grime, he took a few years off til he was 20 when he started to pen new material that embodied his ethos ‘that it’s who we are, not what we do, that defines us.’ His latest release ‘Talk To Me’ is one we can’t get out of our heads for all the right reasons. Featuring 20 year old singer/songwriter Bibi Bourelly (the girl behind Rihanna’s BBHMM), it samples the 90s house classic ‘Gypsy Woman’ by Crystal Waters. Our advice? Play it loud!
