Manchester Afternoon Tea Hotspots
Thinking Afternoon Tea’s not for you? Think again. The traditional pastime has evolved into a pretty kick-ass activity. And as Manchester’s boohoo’s hometown, we checked out a few of the best spots to spend a few hours...
The One With A Twist
Malmaison, 1 Gore Street, Piccadilly
The Manchester venue have recently re-vamped their food theme, opting more for a grill/steak vibe which is reflected in their modern take on afternoon tea. Chic mini bites are on the menu, literally with dainty wraps, burgers finished off with salted caramel brownies and mini meringues all washed down with a moreish summer berry smoothie.
This one is definitely worth an Instagram, as it's one your friends will get serious FOMO over. Full of colour and taste, portion size is even more than what you'd expect for an afternoon tea - we did struggle to finish but that's never a bad problem to have.
If you're not in the mood for savoury, you can opt for just the cream tea alone for just a tenner or swap your tea for a glass of champagne or choose a cocktail for a little more money.
Located in 15 UK cities, you'll be able to find one close to you and enjoy a delish set up that'll gain a few likes on Insta too!
The cost? Standard afternoon tea is £17.50 and can be booked here
The One With The Architecture
Hotel Gotham, 100 King Street
A recent addition to Manchester's hotel landscape, Hotel Gotham stands proudly at the top of King Street and is fast becoming THE place to be. Aside from killer hotel rooms, their afternoon tea, located in the Honey Restaurant offers beautiful art deco windows with views across the city (so if you can, ask for a table next to one - it's worth it!). It's a mix of modern and old with every last detail thought about as far as interior goes and the room is flooded with natural light.
As for afternoon tea, you're met with neatly arranged finger sandwiches, the cutest battenberg you've ever seen and every girl's favourite - the macaroon.
If you're feeling a little flash - you can swap your tea for a glass of fizz for £10 more.
The cost? Standard afternoon tea is £19.95 and can be booked here
The One With The View
Cloud 23, Hilton Hotel, Beetham Tower, 303 Deansgate

Located, as you would guess, on the 23rd floor, you've got 360 views across the city whilst you sip on a traditional afternoon tea of finger sandwiches, scones and mini sweet treat desserts that'll tickle your tastebuds.
You can opt for the cream tea option instead at £13 or upgrade your afternoon tea with a glass of champagne.
Food wise you've got variety with a cheese whirl pastry, prawn, ham and vegetable sandwiches and as for desserts, if a picture's worth a thousand words, it's enough to save room for!
