On Tour | MTV Brand New

Last night we went down to the MTV Brand New event hosted by Ella Eyre to mark the official launch of the competition. Voted for by you, the MTV Brand New winner will follow in the footsteps of The Vamps and Justin Bieber to be named 2016's star.

The 2016 Shortlist


You may recognise Anne-Marie’s soulful vocals from Rudimental’s second album We The Generation. Not only does this Essex-born songstress have a kick-ass voice, but she’s a triple world karate champion too  @annemarieiam 


This five-piece indie band from Stockport are named after their local pub. You may have seen them on the gig circuit supporting The Howling Bells and The Rifles @blossomsband


London rapper Bonkaz counts Krept and Konan among his good friends. A pioneer on the UK grime and rap scene, he has some of the UK's freshest bars @bonkaz

Jack Garratt

It’s hard to describe Jack Garratt’s sound without listening to his music… a firm favourite with the boohoo team, he’s an all signing, all playing, all-rounder who fuses his love for electronic music, blues and R&B @jackgarratt


Five-piece band Nimmo &The Gauntletts provide dance pop for the new musical generation fronted by vocalists Sarah and Reba. They count Agyness Deyn among their fans, who found their songs “constantly on repeat in my head” @nimmonimmo 

Rat Boy

18 year-old Essex lad Rat Boy landed himself some acclaim with his track Fake ID. Compared to Jamie T, he’s bringing hip-hop infused indie rock back to the mainstream @ratboy


Rationale’s debut Fast Lane won him some fans, with over a million plays on Soundcloud to date. When Pharrell played his music Apple Radio, 2015 really got going for this London producer @iamrationale

SG Lewis

Invited to play with Disclosure earlier this year, Liverpool’s SG Lewis is currently working on a second EP and new album for next year. It’s that deep electronic music fused with moving vocals that makes for perfect weekend listening @sglewis_


With a no.1 already under his belt, Sigala is making big waves in the music industry and had one of the most talked-about tracks of the summer. We’re waiting on his new material to start hitting down @sigalamusic


Hailing from London, rap trio WSTRN knocked Adele off the top spot with their track In2. 2016 is set to be massive for them, and we can help but love their swag @wstrnmusic
