Oscars Outfits Of All Time
The 89th Annual Oscars are this Sunday and we CAN NOT wait. We're taking a walk down fashion memory lane in reliving these iconic outfit moments. Good or bad - they're memorable for a reason!
We're kicking off a decade ago with this pink tafeta creation worn by a fresh-faced Kate Winslet. It shouldn't work but it's so fabulous it does. It also helps being Kate obvs and the figure hugging fit and elegant up-do makes this a win in our eyes.
Fast-forwarding four years we have mega Hollywood duo of the time: Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise. It wasn't until two years later the Australian actress scooped an Oscar for her role in The Hours but her golden gown was one to remember all of those years ago.
Sometimes less is more when it comes to Oscar dressing, as proved by Renee in this simple but oh so chic Carolina Herrera cream number back in 2004. It was also the year she scooped Best Supporting Actress for her role in Cold Mountain, having previously been nominated for her parts in Chicago and Bridget Jones' Diary.
There's hardly been an Oscar appearance when Sandra hasn't turned up looking anything but flawless, and 2010 was no exception. Proving she can pull off a sequin and embroidered combo, she embodies elegance in her Marchesa gown. We also <3 her super sleek hair and colour pop lip bringing this look up-to-date.
Mila's 2011 lavendar lace dress was just everything. Feminine, delicate and visually on point, this was the same year Black Swan was nominated for Best Picture at the ceremony.
Ahh the dress that created an internet storm! Only someone as sassy as Angelina could pull off head-to-toe all black velvet with a revealing thigh split and look KILLER. Her right leg kicked off hundreds of memes, internet jokes and even its own Twitter page. But jokes aside, this Versace gown meant all eyes were on her.
Everything about J-Law's 2013 Oscars appearance was legendary. From her epic Christian Dior dress that made her look like a Disney Princess and gave us #DRESSGOALS to her funny fall going up to the stage (still looked flawless). Not to mention her laugh out loud pre-award interview asking where the food was and her press conference following her win for Best Actress in Silver Linings Playbook. Jen - can we be you?!
Lupita's stunning blue Grecian inspired gown charted in many a top dressed list back in 2014 and we completely see why. This was also the year she won Best Supporting Actress for her incredible role in 12 Years A Slave.
Just months after giving birth, Rosamund looked perfection in red lace at the 2015 Oscars. Showing off her killer bod and beauty, everything about her look was red carpet ready, from the figure-hugging silhouette to the subtle thigh split and minimal accessories. This was also the year she was nominated for Best Actress in thriller Gone Girl.
