Game On @ The Grammys

Last night’s annual Grammys was a fight between two of music’s strongest genres – pop and hip hop – as chart heavyweights Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar went up against each other to win the most prestigious awards in the biz.

While Ms Swift scooped ‘Best Pop Vocal Album’ and ‘Best Video’ for Bad Blood (with Lamar), the To Pimp A Butterfly rapper and vocalist knocked Taylor out of the ring with a further four awards – ‘Best Rap Album’, ‘Best Rap Performance’, ‘Best Rap Song’ and ‘Best Rap/Sung Collaboration’ (for These Walls).

A girl unafraid of competing with a hip hop great (we’re talking about you, Kanye), T-Swizzle took the ultimate crown for Album Of The Year for the second time in a row with her record-breaking 1989, beating Lamar’s TPAB to the top spot. Touch down to Taylor…

As for the rest of the evening, rock favorites Alabama Shakes won three awards including ‘Best Alternative Music Album’ for their incredible Sound & Color (a change to my usual music taste, but trust me, it’s a good one), while Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’ Uptown Funk won ‘Record Of The Year’ (yep, I feel like I’ve been hearing it forever too).

And how could we forget Beibs the Carpool Karaoke king, dressed in a rather dashing white suit with Jedward-inspired peroxide blonde hair and the cutest little brother in tow, who picked up ‘Best Dance Recording’ for featuring on Where Are You Now with Diplo and Skrillex.
